God dammit. God fucking dammit. They did it again.
Sure. Make Malkvoich a screaming whining bitch. Make Clooney a womanizing manchild. Make Pitt a dipshit pretty boy and then shoot him in his smiling face. It’s fine. Go ahead. You can do it. Because you’re the Coen Brothers. You crap better art than most of us can even dream of.
Yeah they made some missteps. Although I still think Ladykillers was just a few specific moves short of brilliance (Call me, Coens I got some thoughts). But for the most part they are still the leading autuers of our time.
It’s all about voice. They found their voice. And that is just a matter of practice. I would be in the exact same place if I had made 13 films already. Barking spiders is basically my “Evil Dead”. Not the type of movie i was meant to do, but my first chance to really explore the medium. No I’m ready to step into the next level. I’m ready to start really speaking artistically.
I’m ready for my goddamn mother fucking “Blood Simple”.
